Feast of Brigid ~ Imbolc or Brigid is a celebration of the first signs of Spring. The goddess Brigid is often celebrated on the day of February 1st but this candle can also be used to celebrate this goddess at any time. Brigid was considered one of the most powerful Celtic gods. Myths about Brigid’s birth say she was born with a flame in her head and drank the milk of a mystical cow from the spirit world.
Since it’s a climate-specific holiday, some followers of the Wicca religion adjust their celebration of it to correspond with a date more appropriate to the coming of spring where they live. Others embrace the symbolism of the holiday and keep to the February 1 celebration.
